Summer is over, everyone is back in Dallas and it's time to get together again, share stories, photos and all the fun that we had in summer and catch up! Let's meet at PF Chang's (who does know it, it is "trendy" Chinese food place, with a really good food, nice atmosphere and pretty good prices) in Grapevine. I am really excited to see everyone again, I missed you guys! Eva

Ready to cool off from this heat? It's time to go tubing down the Brazos river, a family-friendly event! Throw out the notion of running whitewater rapids in a tube. The whole idea of tubing is relaxing! We'll have a cooler, so bring a beverage of your choice and kick back! You need to bring a driver's license (to rent the tube), some cash (approx $20 for rentals), hat, sunscreen, and water to drink. If you can't afford to lose it, leave it at home or in the car. Zip-lock bags are great to keep your cash dry. Optional items include sunglasses, river shoes/sandals, snacks, or waterproof camera. Definitely no glass containers or styrofoam. We'll meet at Rhodes Canoe & Tube Rentals (map link) just outside of Glen Rose at 10:00 AM. Look at the link as the place is not on most maps and can be missed easily along the side of the road. We'll float for about 3 hours, then take the shuttle back. Come on! The water is warm!

We haven't done anything for a while so it would be really nice to see you guys again! This came recommended by Vera and looks like a nice place inspired by the Dutch and cooking Dutch cuisine. They have shows on weekends, starting at 10PM with no cover charge. I realize this may not be everyone's cup of tea but I suppose without a cover charge we can either stay or go somewhere else later. This is what their website said about the show on the 20th: "Join the Velvet Kittens for another hilarious, sexy and saucy burlesque revue. Featuring the Velvet Kittens Burlesque Dancers, the singing seductress Lola Love, special guest Danny-Boy, the stand-up comedy of Dawn Diamond and our lovable and comical emcee extraordinaire, Johnny Johnson!" You can see more about this place on their website. Or let me know if you have a better idea or place you'd like to go!

As this will be my first time to attend, I borrowed words from their website. http://www.scarborou ghrenfest.com/index. html Step through the gates of Scarborough Village and feel your cares slip away. Thrill to the thunder of hooves and crash of lance on shield at the joust. Watch in amazement as birds of prey swoop just inches above your head at the command of the Royal Falconer. Enjoy swordplay, comedy, music and other unique entertainment on 21 stages. Witness artisans create one-of-a-kind works of art. Browse 200 quaint shoppes for unique handmade jewelry, clothing, leather goods and other offerings. Feast like a King on food and drink from around the world. Grab a turkey leg and stroll among the villagers of Scarborough. Spend the day in the 16th Century and have the time of your life. Some of our members go every year and it's a lot of fun, so join us! If we can have a group of 15 or more, we can have a group discount on tickets. Group price is 16.50 for adult and 7.50 for a child (5-12 years old), children under 4 are free. Non-discounted price is 21.99 for an adult and 8.50 for a child. Group tickets have to be purchased in advance I think.

Let's go ice skating! This venue is suitable for adults as well as children, so families are welcome. Come with us to enjoy the ice, no extra skating skills required for fun to be had! This place offers skates to rent, just in case you don't have your own.

Come out and enjoy sunshine and breeze aboard the Chamonix II, a 70-foot catamaran on Lake Lewisville. We will sail across the lake to Sneaky Pete's to enjoy a brunch buffet then return back to Pier 121 Marina by about 2:30 PM. Please go to http://www.bigdcats. com/main/page_events _pages_sundaybrunch1 123.php and purchase your tickets. I spoke to the captain and he indicated that since the online ticketing doesn't support group discounts, he may be able to give us a cash rebate on Sunday depending on the final size of our group. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Lida gave me a tip on this event - it's a Czech heritage festival in West (I-35 south of DFW). You can see more details at http://www.westfest. com/. I am most probably going camping to Broken Bow, but if anyone would like to go to the Westfest, please contact Lida, who is going there. The festival is taking place for all three days of the Labor Day weekend, starts on Friday afternoon/evening and ends on Sunday afternoon. There are various events going on during the festival, so please check out the website for more details.
